Movies Once Again to Be Shown at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center

Clarksburg, WV – It’s been a few decades, but the time has come. The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center will screen its first movie for the public this Sunday, August 19 at 3:00pm.The chosen film for the occasion is the highly acclaimed Disney’s Moana which hit movie theaters back in 2016 starring Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The feature film is about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring journey to save her people and in doing so, fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.

“We chose Moana because family-friendly activities are one of our largest priorities for the theatre and we are excited about giving families an entertaining event that is accessible for everyone,” explains Ryan Tolley, Executive Director. The next kid-friendly movie is The Lego Movie coming on Sunday, September 16 at 3:00pm followed by the holiday favorite Hocus Pocus on Sunday, October 7 at 3:00pm.

To make the first movie experience at the Robinson Grand even more exciting, there will be a Moana Meet & Greet from 2-3pm where patrons can get their picture with Moana free of cost (with patron’s camera or mobile device). Also, any child (14 and under) who dresses like a character from the movie will get a free small soft drink from the concessions counter.

“I think it was ten Pepsi caps and a dime,” recalls Vice Mayor Jim Malfregeot when asked about the cost of seeing a movie at the Grand back in the day, “and as compared to 57 years ago it’s still a bargain to go to the RGPAC for only $6.50.” That price includes all taxes and fees and the historic site is still a Pepsi-sponsored facility. Additional offerings will be at the concession stand including an array of candy, popcorn, and fountain beverages. For patrons who are 21 and older (with a valid ID), there will be draft and regional craft beer offerings in cans and bottles as well as a selection of red and white wines.

Operations Manager, Bobby Rexroad spreads light on a common question about what is allowed in the performance hall: “We're really excited to offer our guests the option to bring their beverage and snack with them into the theatre. We even have cup holders available at most seats so guests can sit back, relax and enjoy the show with their favorite beverage!" Only food and beverages purchased from the RGPAC concessions are permitted in the theatre.
