Dominion Energy Presents Outstanding Contribution
in Support of Robinson Grand Capital Campaign

Clarksburg, WV – Dominion Energy and Staff of the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center gathered this morning to recognize and accept an outstanding contribution to the historic theater renovation project.

The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has donated $250,000 to the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center to renovate and restore the historic landmark in downtown Clarksburg, W.Va.  The facility, with operations dating back to 1913, has a long legacy of hosting popular musical and performing arts events and will reopen its doors to the public in the spring of 2018 thanks, in part, to this generous donation.

The renovated 44,656 sq. ft. facility will house a performance hall with seating for 950 patrons, new restrooms and concession/bar areas, along with an 1,800-sq. ft. multi-purpose banquet room for events with a capacity for up to 200 guests. An entirely new West Addition will house the green room, dressing rooms, scene shop, and loading dock. The second floor of the West Addition will house an educational center that can be utilized to support the theater and community programs.

All technical aspects of the theater will be updated to include new lighting, audio, and video systems. The future programming vision consists of national and regional concerts, comedy, and theatrical productions, while also playing host to many local events that include: weddings, birthdays, dance recitals, meetings, and lectures.

Through its donation, Dominion Energy believes that the City of Clarksburg and surrounding areas will benefit from having this historic theater renovated and ready for new events. “It’s amazing to see how Dominion Energy supports the surrounding communities by contributing to this project,” said Ryan Tolley, Executive Director of the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. “I’m truly honored to accept this gift on behalf of everyone who is so passionately involved in this renovation and re-opening.”

“Dominion Energy continues to place a priority on giving-back and supporting this area,” said Brian Sheppard, VP of Pipeline Operations. “We also recognize what a historic landmark the Robinson Grand has been, and we want to ensure its success for generations to come.”

The Robinson Grand is one of North Central West Virginia’s largest economic development projects. Located in Clarksburg’s Central Business District, the center is undergoing a $15 million renovation and restoration with an opening slated for Spring 2018.

Dominion Energy, headquartered in Richmond, is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy. The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation is dedicated to improving the physical, social and economic well-being of the communities served by Dominion Energy. Dominion Energy has operated in Harrison County for nearly 120 years.
