NYE with the Davisson Brothers Band
Clarksburg, WV –The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center is proud to announce that Clarksburg’s hometown boys are coming home to get everyone ready to ring in the new year at the Robinson Grand with The Davisson Brothers Band New Year’s Celebration! The concert will take place on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 8:00 pm with doors opening at 7:00 pm. The concert will also feature special guest openers and up-and-comers, Ben Chapman and Paul McDonald.
The Davisson Brothers Band, hailed as Rolling Stone Country “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know,” boasts musical foundations that are classic, obvious, and etched in stone.
Singer Donnie Davisson commands attention with his working-class, Van Zant-like vibe, and the rest of the band – guitar player extraordinaire Chris Davisson and including drummer Aaron Regester – gives body to a punchy throw-down sound with echoes of the Marshall Tucker Band, Skynyrd, Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, Neil Young and 38 Special. The sonics are based in old-school rock ‘n’ roll, while the messages support all-American fundamentals: family, self-determination, and satisfaction in a job well done.
The Davisson Brothers Band has emerged as a regular component on the festival circuit including a performance at CMC Rocks the Hunter Festival in Australia that underscored their bona fide hit Down Under with “Po’ Boyz.” Their album Fighter, recorded with ace producer Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band), represents their show well. Donnie sings with ferocity, and the instrumental parts – from Chris’ convincing solos to Regester’s powerful backbeats – are delivered with sinewy directness.
Opening for these hometown boys is Ben Chapman, a Nashville-based artist/songwriter who has garnered early attention for his soulful voice and country-blues guitar playing. He is heavily influenced by the sounds of the ’70s, pairing groove-driven music of bands like the Allman Brothers with compelling, pithy lyrics akin to those of Guy Clark and Roger Miller, cooking up a tasty serving of country jam band ear candy.
Following Ben Chapman is Paul McDonald. Paul McDonald’s voice is immediately recognizable and impossible to ignore. Often compared to legends like Mick Jagger and Bob Dylan, the poetic story-driven narratives and deeply catchy hooks in his music are delivered by a raspy yet refined voice reminiscent of another era yet that demands to be heard right now.
