Snapshots of History 7: Ricky Skaggs

Our snapshot this week comes from March 27th of 1987. This event took place during the "Rose Garden" era of the Robinson Grand. Ricky Skaggs, an American country and bluegrass singer, musician, composer and producer, played on our stage and signed several articles. He also left his original set list, which was written by him right before the show! What’s your favorite Ricky Skaggs song? #TheRobinsonGrand #ComingSpring2018

Snapshots of History 6: “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”

This photo is from late 1977 and shows the Robinson Grand's then Director, Madge Douds, being escorted to jail. Ms. Douds was arrested and fined for promoting and displaying an R-rated film in the Robinson Grand. The film, "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" was critically acclaimed, but also included scenes that were considered obscene during that time. She was held in custody for two hours after refusing to pay the $104 fine. She and her attorney planned to proceed into litigation about the case. The ultimate outcome is unknown. Please comment on our Facebook page if you have more information in regard to this "interesting" piece of the Robinson Grand's history. #TheRobinsonGrand #Coming
