Our snapshot this week comes from March 27th of 1987. This event took place during the "Rose Garden" era of the Robinson Grand. Ricky Skaggs, an American country and bluegrass singer, musician, composer and producer, played on our stage and signed several articles. Snapshots of History 6: “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”
This photo is from late 1977 and shows the Robinson Grand's then Director, Madge Douds, being escorted to jail. Ms. Douds was arrested and fined for promoting and displaying an R-rated film in the Robinson Grand. The film, "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" was critically acclaimed, but also included scenes that were considered obscene during that time. She was held in custody for two hours after refusing to pay the $104 fine. She and her attorney planned to proceed into li

Construction Update
-The masonry restoration on the West wall has been completed -The old smoke roof hatch on the stage house as well as the boiler chimney is in the process of being removed -Framing in the front lobby for the ticket office has been installed
